atha khalv āyuṣmān subhūtir āyuṣmāṃś ca mahākātyāyana; āyuṣmāṃś ca mahākāsyapa: āyuṣmāṃ mahāmodgalyāyana(s) te idam evarūpam aśrutapūrvaṃ dharmaṃ śrutvā bhagavataḥ sāntikā[ṃ]t saṃmukhaṃ āyuṣmataś ca śāriputrasya bhagavataḥ sāntikāt saṃmukhaṃ vyākaraṇam śrutvā 'nuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau āścaryaprāptā adbhutaprāptā odbilyaprāptā babhūvus te āścaryaprāptās tasyāṃ velāyāṃ utthāy' āsanebhyo yena bhagavāṃs tenopasaṃkrramī (upasaṃkrramitvā) ekāṃseṣūttarāsaṃgāni kṛtvā dakṣiṇāni jānuma[ṃ]ṇḍalāni pṛthivyā(ṃ) pratiṣṭhāpayitvā yena bhagavāṃs tenāṃjalīṃ praṇāmayitvā bhagava[ṃ]ta evam abhimukhā bhagavaṃtam evāvalokayamānā: avanatakāyā vinatakāyā abhinatakāyā [bhagavaṃyā bhagavaṃtam prati] praṇatakāyā; saṃnatakāyās tasyāṃ velāyāṃ bhagavaṃtam etad avocu(ḥ)

CHAPITRE IV. LES INCLINATIONS.

Ensuite le respectable Subhûti, Mahâkâtyâyana, Mahâkâçyapa et Mahâmâudgalyâyana, tous également respectables, ayant entendu cette loi dont ils n'avaient pas ouï parler auparavant, et ayant appris, de la bouche de Bhagavat, que Çâriputtra était destiné à obtenir l'état suprême de Buddha parfaitement accompli, frappés d'étonnement, de surprise et de satisfaction, s'étant levés en ce moment même de leurs sièges, se dirigèrent vers la place où se trouvait Bhagavat; et rejetant sur une épaule leur vêtement supérieur, posant à terre le genou droit, tenant les mains jointes en signe de respect du côté où était assis Bhagavat, le regardant en face, le corps incliné en avant, l'extérieur modeste et recueilli, ils parlèrent en ces termes à Bhagavat :
CHAPTER IV. DISPOSITION.
As the venerable Subhûti, the venerable MahâKâtyâyana, the venerable Mahâ-Kâsyapa, and the venerable Mahâ-Maudgalyâyana heard this law unheard of before, and as from the mouth of the Lord they heard the future destiny of Sâriputra to superior perfect enlightenment, they were struck with wonder, amazement, and rapture. They instantly rose from their seats and went up to the place where the Lord was sitting; after throwing their cloak over one shoulder, fixing the right knee on the ground and lifting up their joined hands before the Lord, looking up to him, their bodies bent, bent down and inclined, they addressed the Lord in this strain:

妙法蓮華経
信解品第四

爾時慧命須菩提。摩訶迦旃延。摩訶迦葉。摩訶目犍連。従仏所聞未曽有法。世尊授舎利弗阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記。発希有心歓喜踊躍。即従座起整衣服。偏袒右肩右膝著地。一心合掌曲躬恭敬。瞻仰尊顔而白仏言。

於是賢者須菩提。迦旃延。大迦葉。大目揵連等。聴演大法得未曽有。本所未聞。而見世尊授舎利弗決。当得無上正真之道。驚喜踊躍咸従坐起。進詣仏前偏袒右肩。礼畢叉手瞻順尊顔。内自思省心体熙怡。支節和懌悲喜並集。白世尊曰。
