tat kiṃ manyase śāriputra kena kāraṇena sa tathāgato 'mitābho nāmocyate / tasya khalu punaḥ śāriputra tathāgatasyābhāpratihatā sarvabuddhakṣetreṣu / tena kāraṇena sa tathāgato 'mitābho nāmocyate / tasya ca śāriputra tathāgatasyāprameyaḥ śrāvakasaṃgho yeṣāṃ na sukaraṃ pramāṇam ākhyātuṃ śuddhānām arhatām / evaṃrūpaiḥ śāriputra buddhakṣetraguṇavyūhaiḥ samalaṃkṛtaṃ tad buddhakṣetram //

シャーリプトラよ、これをどう思うか——どういうわけで、かの如来はアミターバ（無量の光をもつ者）と名づけられるのであろうか。まことに、シャーリプトラよ、かの如来の光は、一切の仏国土において、さまたげられることがない。こういうわけで、かの如来はアミターバと名づけられるのである。 また、シャーリプトラよ、かの如来の声聞の僧団は無量であり、かれら清浄な阿羅漢たちの数量を述べることは容易ではない。シャーリプトラよ、かの仏国土は、もろもろのこのような仏国土の功徳の荘厳によって、飾られているのである。

§9. 'And what do you think, O Śāriputra, for what reason is that Tathāgata called Amitābha? The splendour (ābhā), O Śāriputra, of that Tathāgata is unimpeded over all Buddha countries. Therefore is that Tathāgata called Amitābha. 'And there is, O Śāriputra, an innumerable assembly of disciples with that Tathāgata, purified and venerable persons, whose number it is not easy to count. With such arrays of excellences, &c.

ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ་གཞན་ཡང་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་དེའི་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་དགེ་འདུན་དག་པ་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ཤ་སྟག་ཚད་མེད་དེ། དེ་དག་གི་ཚད་བརྗོད་པར་སླ་བ་མ་ཡིན་ནོ། །ཤཱ་རིའི་ བུ་གཞན་ཡང་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཞིང་དེར་སྐྱེས་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་དག་ནི་ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པ། སྐྱེ་བ་གཅིག་གིས་ཐོགས་པའི་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་དག་པ་ཤ་སྟག་གོ། །ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་དེ་དག་གི་ཚད་ནི་བརྗོད་པར་སླ་བ་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། གཞན་དུ་ན་ཚད་མེད་གྲངས་ མེད་ཅེས་བྱ་བའི་གྲངས་སུ་འགྲོའོ། །ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཞིང་དེ་ནི་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཞིང་གི་ཡོན་ཏན་བཀོད་པ་རྣམ་པ་དེ་ལྟ་བུ་དག་གིས་ལེགས་པར་བརྒྱན་པའོ།

舎利子よ、他に又かの世尊の声聞の僧等は皆阿羅漢のみで無量にあって、彼等の数量を云うことは易くないのである。舎利子よ、他に又かの仏国土に生れた所の衆生等は不退転で一生で菩提を成就する聖菩薩のみである。舎利子よ、かの菩薩等の数量を云うことは易くないのであつて、再言すれば無量無数といふ所の数に逹するのである。舎利子よ、その仏国土は仏国土の功徳荘厳がそのような諸種を以てよく荘厳してある。

“Furthermore, Śāriputra, this bhagavān has an immeasurable saṅgha of śrāvakas, who are all pure arhats; their number cannot be easily expressed. Furthermore, Śāriputra, the sentient beings born in this buddha realm are all pure bodhisattvas who will not regress and are bound by only one more birth. Śāriputra, one cannot express the total number of bodhisattvas except to say that they are immeasurable or countless. Śāriputra, this buddha realm is beautifully adorned by such displays of the excellences of buddha realms.

舎利弗。於汝意云何。彼仏何故号阿弥陀。舎利弗。彼仏光明無量。照十方国無所障礙。是故号為阿弥陀。 又舎利弗。彼仏有無量無辺声聞弟子。皆阿羅漢。非是算数之所能知。諸菩薩亦復如是。舎利弗。彼仏国土成就如是功徳荘厳

舎利子。何縁彼仏名無量光。舎利子。由彼如来恒放無量無辺妙光。遍照一切十方仏土。施作仏事無有障礙。由是縁故。彼土如来名無量光。舎利子。彼仏浄土成就如是功徳荘厳。甚可愛楽。是故名為極楽世界 又舎利子。極楽世界浄仏土中。無量寿仏常有無量声聞弟子。一切皆是大阿羅漢。具足種種微妙功徳。其量無辺不可称数。舎利子。彼仏浄土成就如是功徳荘厳。甚可愛楽。是故名為極楽世界
